Caring for those who care: self-care training for 51 frontline workers

The Center for Mind-Body Medicine (CMBM), in partnership with IDEA, held two three-day Self-Care Training workshops for 51 frontline service providers from organisations across Gaza.

The workshops helped participants deal with their own stress and trauma, lower the risk of burnout and secondary trauma, and bring trauma-informed approaches into their work with others.

The training mixed large and small groups. In the large groups, participants explored Mind-Body Medicine skills through presentations, case studies and interactive discussions. The small groups offered a safe, supportive space to practise the skills and share experiences.

Participants learned practical techniques, including Soft Belly Breathing, meditation, guided imagery, mindful eating, drawing and movement.
