The Center for Mind-Body Medicine – Gaza

Simple skills to find calm again, even in the hardest times

Since 2005 we have taught children, women and men across the Gaza Strip mind-body skills, such as deep breathing, meditation, movement and drawing, that they can use on their own every day. Our groups and workshops are free and open to all.

Our approach

Tools people carry with them

We start from a simple idea: every person has the capacity to help themselves. When someone learns to calm their body and listen to their thoughts and feelings, they are better able to face pressure and to support the people around them.

So we teach skills people practise themselves, and we learn them together in small groups led by trained facilitators, who practised these skills in their own lives before teaching them.

  2. Meditation
  3. Guided imagery
  4. Movement, drawing and writing

In the words of our trainees

Mind-body skills helped me improve my mental and physical well-being through practicing deep Soft Belly Breathing exercise. They also helped me think more clearly when interacting with my children and avoid responding with anger or frustration.

The Mind-Body training had a significant impact in reducing the physical and emotional exhaustion I experience due to work pressures and family responsibilities.
